Mongolian Beef With Lo Mein Noodles Skillet Meal in Stores
No need for takeout, this Mongolian Noodles recipe is made with ground beef and everyday ingredients. Best of all, it can be ready in just 15 minutes!
Mongolian noodles were one of my favorite meals when I was a kid. I loved going to the Mongolian restaurant and watching them cook it right in front of you. So you can imagine how excited I was when I was looking for a last-minute meal idea and saw this recipe for Mongolian beef made with ingredients I already had in my kitchen!
I tweaked the original recipe to suit my taste and its now a family favorite!
The first time I made this I didn't have any rice noodles in the pantry but I did have regular pasta so I decided to try that. It was so delicious that I kept it in the recipe but you could easily use rice noodles instead for a more authentic Mongolian noodle dish.

Ingredients
- ground beef - you can also substitute ground chicken, turkey, or vegetarian alternatives
- soy sauce - I recommend low sodium to balance out the high salt content of the hoisin sauce
- hoisin sauce - this is the only "specialty" ingredient in this recipe, if you've never used it you can read all about it here
- beef broth
- brown sugar - the sweetness blends perfectly with the other flavors!
- ground ginger
- garlic - I keep a jar of minced garlic in the fridge for easy access (found in the produce section of the store)
- red pepper flakes - add more to make it spicy
- pepper
- linguine, spaghetti, or rice noodles
- green onion (optional!)

How to make this recipe more authentic Mongolian
If you want to make this meal authentic substitute the linguini for rice noodles and use flank steak instead of ground beef.
Cut the flank steak into strips against the grain and toss in cornstarch before frying, then assemble the sauce and toss everything together.
Even my pickiest eater gobbled these Mongolian noodles up!
